SAMPAA invites conference delegates to participate in SAMPAA 7 in a variety of ways:
Connecting “knowledge” with the management of protected areas. As this is a “SAMPAA conference” (i.e. Science and the Management of Protected Areas Association), we are particularly interested in better understanding how knowledge has informed or could inform the management of protected areas. Knowledge in this context is broadly defined to include insights or experience derived from natural science, social science, local knowledge, traditional knowledge, and the arts.
Submitting an abstract for a Poster or for an oral presentation
DEADLINE November 1, 2010
Oral presentations will be 20 minutes in length, allowing for a 15-minute presentation and five minutes for questions. PLEASE BE SURE THAT YOUR ABSTRACT COMPLIES WITH THE ABSTRACT GUIDELINES AND REFLECTS ONE OR MORE SAMPAA 7 CONFERENCE THEMES AND SUBJECT AREAS (up to three in order of preference):
- Maximum 300 words, Arial Font, Size 11
- Include all authors names, affiliations, email addresses
- State both the preferred conference session theme and subject area (up to three in order of preference)
- Briefly indicate how this study could be used (or was used) to assist in a management decision
- Use the following headings when outlining the paper:
- Purpose of paper – describe what questions or issues are explored and indicate how this relates to a conference subject area
- Approach – briefly describe how the study was carried out
- Findings – describe some highlights revealed in the study
- Media resources needed – Indicate what media aid you may require for your presentation
Additional Information regarding poster submissions
- Oral and poster format are considered of equal weight for presentation at SAMPAA 7, and will be equally refereed and published in SAMPAA 7 proceedings. Students are especially encouraged to submit posters, as student posters will be eligible for student poster awards at SAMPAA 7.
- Posters must be displayed from Monday April 18 to Thursday April 21, inclusive.
- Display space is limited to 1.2 m by 1.2 m. per poster.
