The Protected Areas Community

j kershaw, wilsons’ lake The Canadian protected areas community is diverse; many people working from different organizations and perspectives collaborate to create, manage and conduct research in protected areas.

Professionally, the community includes practitioners and managers who work with environmental organizations, land trusts, First Nations and Aboriginal organizations, Federal protected areas organizations, and Territorial and Provincial agencies.  It also includes thousands of dedicated volunteers, educators, students, and researchers in the fields of ecological, environmental, geographic and social sciences.
