Dr. Tom Herman is Vice-President Academic and Professor of Biology at Acadia University. For more than 30 years, he and his students have explored the interface between humans and biodiversity. A population biologist with particular interest in small fragmented populations and their conservation, he is also keenly interested in the role of science in managing protected areas, and in the role of citizen science and community engagement in species-at-risk recovery. Tom sits on several national and regional advisory committees on endangered biodiversity, and since 1993 has co-chaired the RENEW Blanding’s Turtle Recovery Team. He is also Vice-Chair of the Mersey Tobeatic Research Institute and Vice-President of the Offshore Energy Environmental Research Association.
