Steve Mockford

Dr. Steve Mockford teaches in the Biology Department at Acadia University, where his research focuses on recovery and management of species at risk. He approaches this using both genetic and field based methods. His broader interests include the role of science in the management of landscapes - including protected areas - and the interactive roles of natural science, social science, political science, and economics in the management of both natural and built environments. Steve is the Acting Chair of the Interim Nova Scotia Wood Turtle recovery team, and a member on both the Blanding's Turtle and Eastern Ribbonsnake (Co-Chair) recovery teams. He is also an avid photographer and valued “BioBlitz” team leader (specializing in the herpetofauna).
