David Colville
David Colville is a research scientist with the Applied Geomatics Research Group and on faculty at Nova Scotia Community College. With more than 25 years of experience teaching and applying geomatics technology (GIS, remote sensing, GPS, etc.) in environmental applications, David has a particular interest in the use of geomatics to assist our understanding of natural landscapes. His research interests include ecological landscape analysis, protected areas management, and environmental information systems. A long-time SAMPAA director, David has collaborated with numerous groups (i.e., Parks Canada, Environment Canada, Clean Annapolis River Project, Sable Island Preservation Trust, etc.) to map and analyze protected landscapes and their interaction with working landscapes.
